Is Star Wars Zero Company Steam Deck Verified?

Is Star Wars Zero Company Steam Deck Verified? EA says no at launch, Valve currently marks it Unsupported, and early testing reports poor performance.

Current compatibility status

Star Wars Zero Company is not Steam Deck Verified. EA’s launch FAQ says it will not receive Verified status at launch. SteamDB currently records Valve’s category as Unsupported for both Steam Deck and SteamOS, with Valve still working on support information.

This status was checked on September 2, 2026. Compatibility badges can change after game, Proton, or driver updates, so an older screenshot is not permanent evidence.

Does Unsupported mean the game never starts?

No. Valve’s Unsupported label is a compatibility result, not a claim that every user sees the same failure. A game can launch through Proton and still be Unsupported because of performance, video, input, stability, or another requirement.

It also does not mean the experience is acceptable. A tactical game may tolerate 30 FPS, but unstable frame pacing, illegible resolution scaling, crashes, or prolonged hangs can still make a long campaign impractical.

Early performance evidence

PC Gamer’s launch review describes testing on Steam Deck at the lowest settings with FSR pushed aggressively and reports roughly 15–20 FPS with a severely degraded image. That is one reviewer’s hands-on result rather than a controlled benchmark across every software version, but it supports Valve’s current Unsupported classification.

The published Windows minimum is also demanding for the handheld: 16 GB RAM, a GTX 1080/RX 5600 XT/Arc B580-class GPU target, and 1080p/30 on Low. Desktop requirements do not map directly to the Deck’s shared-memory APU, yet they help explain why reducing settings alone may not solve the problem.

SteamOS details currently recorded

SteamDB’s Valve test record includes:

  • SteamOS compatibility marked Unsupported.
  • Proton 11.0-2RC listed as the recommended runtime in the test metadata.
  • No internet requirement for single-player after setup in that compatibility record.
  • Manual keyboard invocation required for some text input.

These fields can update independently of EA’s FAQ. Check the current store badge and SteamDB record before purchasing specifically for handheld play.

What about streaming?

Steam Remote Play or another home-streaming setup can move rendering to a capable Windows PC while using the Deck as a client. That may be a practical household workaround, but it is not native Deck support and depends on the host, local network, and chosen streaming settings.

Recommendation

Buy the launch version for Deck only if you are comfortable testing and refunding within the platform’s rules. For a dependable first campaign, use a Windows PC that meets the official target or wait for EA or Valve to publish a changed compatibility status.
