Hire against a schedule, not a vague shortage
First decide which workstation and hours are uncovered. Then recruit someone whose role, availability, and demands fit that gap. Hiring several people before the schedule exists can create wage cost without fixing the actual coverage problem.
The developer guide documents individual demands covering weekly status, number of workdays, time-of-day restrictions, weekends, cleaning, and workplace conditions. Read the current employee panel because the exact combination differs by recruit.
Build the week in the right order
- Set the days and hours the business should open.
- Place required workstations and identify which roles operate them.
- Assign employees to each station without overlapping the same slot.
- Check the planned weekly hours and every important demand.
- Leave time for training only when another worker or the owner covers the station.
A developer answer confirms that individual days can be edited when the shared-schedule option is disabled. Repeating one day across the week is faster for a simple operation, but it can conflict with employees who need particular days or times off.
Satisfaction and management
Low satisfaction is a symptom to investigate, not a reason to hire another person immediately. Check unassigned time after training, weekly hours, shift restrictions, cleanliness, and unmet preferences. HR Managers become useful when the roster is large enough that manual training and support consume significant attention; they still require a functioning headquarters workstation.
The official 3674 hotfix resolved a bug in which employees trying to quit could block training and other automated work. If training does not finish, confirm the game is on Build 3674 or later and advance to the next in-game day before rebuilding an otherwise valid schedule.
Version 1.0 also introduced the Pricing Manager for neighborhood-wide price work. That role belongs in an established management structure rather than replacing basic store staffing.
Version note
This page synthesizes developer-authored guidance reviewed September 2, 2026. Scheduling recommendations remain mixed because employee combinations and future balance patches can change the best roster.
