Summon the first boss
Buy a Beer Can from the Lighthouse Keeper, then give it back to him. The returned Empty Beer Can becomes a special lure. Equip it on the Fishing Rod and cast from the Lighthouse water only after you have food and a weapon ready.
This item is consumed by the attempt, so saving before the cast protects you from repeating the opening money loop if the physics go badly.
Recommended preparation
The Spider Crab can be beaten with fists in a coordinated group, but solo players have a safer time with an early melee weapon. PC Gamer recommends the Knife for a first solo run. Do not spend every coin on bait and then start the encounter without food.
Choose an open patch of land with enough room to step sideways. Avoid the shoreline, loose props, and the boat, where the boss or its drop can become harder to recover.
Read the charge
The dependable attack window comes after the Spider Crab commits to a charge:
- Stay close enough to invite the charge without standing against an obstacle.
- Move sideways as the boss closes the last distance.
- When it misses and becomes dizzy, circle behind it.
- Land two or three controlled hits, then create space before it recovers.
- Repeat instead of trading damage from the front.
Running very far away can encourage less predictable leaps and wastes the escape timer. Stay engaged, but do not let the white timer bar pressure you into a frontal brawl.
Finish the hand-in
After the kill, inspect the remains and protect the quest drop. Carry it to the Lighthouse Keeper to complete the opening objective and receive the boat keys. Purchase the Radar before departing; the keys let the boat move, while the Radar makes the next island marker practical to follow.
If the quest does not advance, check the ground around the fight for a separated trophy rather than assuming the kill itself completed the step.
