Verified status
How to Fish is marked Steam Deck Verified in the current compatibility metadata. SteamDB records the Deck test on August 25, 2026 against build 24911270. That result covers the standard checklist Valve exposes for this title:
- all functionality is accessible with the default controller configuration;
- the game displays Steam Deck controller icons;
- interface text is considered legible on the handheld screen;
- the default graphics configuration performs well;
- SteamOS compatibility is listed as successful.
The Steam store also lists full controller support for the PC release.
What Verified does and does not promise
Verified is a compatibility classification, not a locked frame-rate guarantee for every scene. Large co-op lobbies, dense physics interactions, battery settings, and future patches can change an individual session’s performance. Start with the default profile that passed review before increasing visual settings.
How to Fish uses online interaction for co-op, but the compatibility record says an internet connection is not required for single-player setup or play. Multiplayer still needs a working Steam connection.
Controller notes
Patch 1.0.8 fixed PlayStation controller glyph display and linked the fire sizzling sound to the correct volume control. Those are PC-wide fixes rather than Deck-only features, but they matter when a handheld or docked setup presents the wrong button prompts.
If an update changes the Verified badge, treat the Steam client compatibility panel as the final current answer. This page was checked on September 2, 2026.
