Spoiler-light route
This route covers the structure of the first Early Access chapter without reproducing every joke or story reveal. It applies to version 0.8.5; objective markers and costs can change in later builds.
1. Finish the train introduction
Collect and equip both spacesuit pieces before leaving the safe interior. Pick up the nearby feed and complete the Chicken interaction to advance the opening. Check the inventory screen before moving on so the helmet is actually equipped rather than merely carried.
2. Make the first Scrap tool
After the crash, speak with Babe and inspect the phone booth objective. Search the immediate station platform for two pieces of Metal, open the crafting menu, and make Scrap. Use it on the booth lock.
The useful habit starts here: inspect a broken object first, note its recipe, then gather with a specific short route. Carrying every loose object wastes time and oxygen.
3. Restore station power
Move to the top of the train platform and inspect the generators. The nearby battery is trapped in ice; free it with Scrap, then install it. Once power returns, locate the pantograph interaction on the roof of the train beneath the glass structure.
4. Inspect and repair the train
Check each damaged station inside the train before committing materials. The repair list includes the kettle, food machine, lamp, window, and interphone. Electronics, Wires, Aluminum, Plastic, Metal, Glass, and either Cardboard or Foam become recurring needs.
Repairing everything at once is not always optimal. Secure water, food, and oxygen access first, then complete the communication repair that advances the main path.
5. Follow the communication chain
The next stage expands into several antenna-related objectives. Pin the active journal task and recheck it after each repair; the label “Three Antennas” covers different pieces of communications hardware rather than three identical dishes.
For the early frozen pod, break the ice, start its mechanism, and repair both the electronics and antenna sections. Return to a refill point before searching for small debris parts around distant structures.
6. Clear nearby optional work deliberately
The Attendant, damaged antenna, toilets, statues, corpses, signs, and odd machinery can lead to side quests or achievements. Complete nearby objectives when they share the same material route, but do not let an optional marker consume the oxygen reserved for the return trip.
Before leaving the starting area
- Keep one usable gathering tool of each unlocked type.
- Learn where Ice, Metal, Plastic, Wires, and Electronics respawn or remain uncollected.
- Establish a known oxygen refill before attempting a long debris search.
- Inspect unusual objects, but record unfinished requirements instead of carrying every prop home.
- Treat guides based on the 2025 demo as historical unless the same step is confirmed in 0.8.5.
The current chapter eventually moves beyond the starting station, but its survival lessons remain the same: short purposeful trips are safer than one long unplanned sweep.
