Short answer
The version 0.8.5 Early Access build contains the first major story chapter, a large open-space area, and the systems needed to gather resources, craft, upgrade equipment, repair machinery, fight, and complete main or optional tasks.
Before launch, RedRuins described the chapter as roughly eight to ten hours. The studio called that a very rough estimate. Exploration, achievement hunting, survival difficulty, and familiarity with the demo can move an individual playtime well outside that range.
What is playable now
The Steam description confirms these launch-build pillars:
- open-space exploration with oxygen and temperature pressure;
- resource collection, improvised tools, equipment, and suit upgrades;
- repairs, dismantling, combat, and access puzzles;
- main quests, side quests, NPCs, optional locations, and collectibles;
- the opening portion of the continuing Breathedge 2 story.
The available chapter is designed as a substantial slice, but the overall story is unfinished and parts of the world are intentionally inaccessible.
What is not safe to call launch content
The store’s future plans mention planetary-surface play, more characters and quests, several forms of transport, a personal spacecraft, warp jumping, and building. Those features should not be described as usable in version 0.8.5 unless a later patch explicitly ships them.
How to decide whether to start
Buy the current build for its existing first chapter and for participation in development, not because every roadmap feature is already present. Players who want the complete story, stable balance, and the broadest feature set should wait for version 1.0.
