Co-op & Friend's Pass · faq short answer

WheelMates Online, Local Co-op, and Voice Chat

WheelMates online, local co-op, and voice chat support includes internet play and shared split screen, but Firevolt confirms there is no in-game voice chat.

Supported co-op modes

WheelMates supports two-player online co-op and shared/split-screen co-op. Steam lists both features, while Firevolt describes exactly two drivers as the intended format.

For an online pair, Friend’s Pass means the second player can join an owner without buying another full copy. For a local pair, both players share the same system and can speak directly, although the hardware still needs suitable input devices for two cars.

Voice-chat answer

There is no in-game voice chat in the launch build. Firevolt recommends an external service such as Discord for remote partners. Since puzzles depend on timing and both players doing their part, establish a working voice channel before starting rather than trying to configure it during a challenge.

Communication fallback

When voice is unavailable, agree on short signals for “ready,” “stop,” and “retry,” and use visible car positioning to stage each action. That is general coordination advice, not a claim that WheelMates contains a dedicated ping system.

Connection quality can also affect what partners see. If car positions diverge, reset from a safe point and consult the latest update notes before treating the puzzle as unsolved.
