Mortal Shell II Open Beta Guide

This Mortal Shell 2 beta guide explains the opening-hours test, supported Beta platforms, unlock rewards, and exactly what did not transfer to launch.

What the Open Beta contained

The Mortal Shell II Open Beta was a separate free test build. It covered the prologue and the opening portion of the first explorable region, including early Shell possession, Beacons, optional dungeons, mini-bosses, and the route toward Magdalena.

The build was explicitly described as in development. Bugs, rough performance, balance changes, and route changes are therefore part of the Beta context and should not be projected onto the retail game without a launch check.

Progress-transfer rules

The official Beta description did not promise full save transfer. At launch, currency, weapons, Shells, collectibles, and other discovered items were scheduled to reset.

Two documented rewards were treated differently:

  • Playing the Beta unlocked the Flayed Harbinger cosmetic for the full game.
  • Progress beyond Marrow Keep unlocked an option to skip the prologue in the full game.

These exceptions are not the same as carrying the Beta inventory or world state into launch.

Beta platforms

The supplied official listings cover Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S test access. Store availability may now differ because the full game has released. If a platform storefront no longer exposes the Beta download, that does not change the historical test scope.

Beta route warning

Use Beta guides for mechanics and early orientation, not as unquestioned launch maps. Community guide authors reported that some item placements changed between the test and release builds. Every route on this Wiki should carry a Beta or Launch label when that difference matters.

Is the Beta the full game?

No. It was an opening-hours test and demo, not the complete campaign. The released game expands beyond its accessible region, roster availability, world routes, and progression limits.
